That cash register thing is intriguing
Today's strip leads to the question, Are there many couples who go grocery shopping together? I know my sister and her husband do, but I can't really think of any others. Anyway, I hate strips like this because I really don't have much to say about it. Yep, that would be annoying. At least the "The urge to" makes sense.
But Elfa won't be complaining if they win $1 million!

My wife and I do, but yeah, I think that's pretty uncommon. I can't remember my parents shopping together. And actually, my wife and I don't shop together all that often.
What is that cash register? It's almost as if he hasn't actually *been* to the grocery store in a decade, and got all of his information through a game of telephone. And is that an ear on the side of the monitor?
I think it's pretty stupid not to buy the "cheap brand" of sugar, at least; a generic bag of sugar is no different than a brand name, is it? So why not save 39 cents there? Cheap meat scares me, though, and cheap cheese can be icky--and in some cases, may not actually even be cheese (I remember once when our dog refused to eat the grilled "cheese" sandwiches we threw out in disgust. My mom checked the package and discovered she'd actually bought yellow pieces of vegetable oil called "sandwich slices" that had been sinisterly stocked next to the Kraft single!).
Kraft singles aren't real cheese either, you know. Processed cheese really does not count as cheese. It's some kind of horrible abomination.
Cheap brand of sugar? Cheap brand of sugar???
The key is figuring out which foods you can eat the generic versions of and which you can't. I hate generic mac and cheese.
